Fiji has taken a significant step towards becoming a regional digital hub with the arrival of the Bulikula Subsea Cable in Natadola Province. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Manoa Kamikamica, along with representatives from the land-owning unit, FNPF, Google, and other key stakeholders, welcomed the milestone.

This subsea cable, part of Google’s ongoing project in Fiji, will enhance international connectivity, linking the country to the United States, Australia, Japan, and South America. The landing of this cable underscores Fiji’s growing digital infrastructure, reinforcing its position in the Pacific region.

In his remarks at the welcome event, Kamikamica expressed gratitude for the strong partnership between the Fiji Government, Google, and all stakeholders involved. “This project highlights the confidence global partners have in Fiji and demonstrates our nation’s commitment to enhancing digital connectivity and economic growth,” said Kamikamica.

With four new cable connections now in Fiji—two in Suva and two in Natadola—this infrastructure boost will improve digital services and strengthen Fiji’s global connectivity and economic prospects. The Fiji Government remains committed to advancing its digital landscape for continued economic growth.
