Fiji Television and MaiTV officially signed the Public Service Broadcast Grant agreement today, unlocking new opportunities to produce and broadcast health-focused and informative content.
A total budget of $10.4 million was allocated for Public Service Broadcast Grant in 2024-2025 National Budget for both radio and television, from which Fiji Broadcasting Corporation was allocated its share and a tender was called for the remaining sum for both radio and TV.
Fiji Television and MaiTV were the successful bidders for the television component.
Assistant Minister for Information, Aliki Bia said through the grant, the two television companies would produce and broadcast local content that is informative and educational for the benefit of the general audience.
“Content that promotes wellness and healthy lifestyles, sports, both major and minor sports, as well as rural and maritime development will now be possible under this PSB Grant agreement,” he said.
With the PSB grant for television broadcast signed, focus will now shift to finalising the tender for the radio component.
