In Fiji:
The Fiji Government is hosting the first national workshop on the implementation of the Biological Diversity in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction Agreement.
The workshop focuses on marine biological diversity beyond national jurisdiction.
The workshop, in partnership with the Office of the Pacific Ocean Commissioner and the International Union for Conservation of Nature, will try to strengthen understanding of the agreement and identify Fiji’s priorities for ratification and implementation.
Various stakeholders, including the Pacific Ocean Commissioner and Fiji’s Director of Multilateral Affairs, stressed effective implementation before ratification.
