In Fiji:
A man in his 40s has been charged with murder following the death of his wife on Rabi Island.
The incident reportedly occurred last week after an argument between the couple escalated. It is alleged that the man physically assaulted his wife, who was later rushed to the Rabi Health Centre. Medical personnel confirmed her death upon arrival.
Following police investigations, the accused has been formally charged with one count of murder. He is expected to appear at the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report incidents of domestic violence and seek help through available support services. The Fiji Police Force has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on gender-based violence.
