The investigation file into the death of Richard Mock will be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Friday, May 9, for independent review and a decision on possible charges.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu confirmed that investigators have been finalising video-recorded interview transcripts of the 13 officers allegedly linked to the case.
He reassured the public and Mr. Mock’s family that the delay is due to the time-intensive process of transcribing and reviewing evidence, not an attempt to shield officers from accountability.
Commissioner Tudravu emphasized that all complaints involving police officers are thoroughly investigated, either by the Internal Affairs Unit or the Criminal Investigations Department, with all files reviewed independently by the ODPP.
