The President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, officiated the swearing-in ceremony for a number of new Ministers and Assistant Ministers at the State House in Suva early this morning.
Amongst those sworn in were Ioane Naivalarua as Minister for Policing, Viliame Naupoto as Minister for Immigration and Mosese Bulitavu as Minister for Environment & Climate Change.
Naisa Tuinaceva was appointed as Assistant Minister for Public Works , Meteorological Services and Transport, Aliki Bia as Assistant Minister for Information and Josaia Niudamu as Assistant Minister for Justice.
These changes follow Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s statement of an upcoming cabinet reshuffle, where “new members will take over some of the portfolios” he currently holds and that the Ministries of Public Works, Justice and Health could potentially receive Assistant Ministers.
Rabuka previously stated that adjustments will be made to ensure that the coalition government is ready to move into the last two years of its leadership.
