Commonwealth Leaders participated at the An Ocean of Opportunity: Commonwealth Progress on Ocean Action event at the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Apia, Samoa yesterday.
The event focused on the implementation of the Commonwealth Ocean Declaration to accelerate sustainable ocean financing.
Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, in his address commended the significant progress on ocean action in the six years since the Commonwealth leaders adopted the Blue Charter.
Rabuka says as a Small Island Developing State and a Commonwealth Small State, the Declaration resonates with us in its importance, relevance and urgency.
He added that the Ocean is at the heart of our geography and is intricately linked to our identity.
