A woman was arrested during a raid at the Mead Road housing complex yesterday following the discovery of alleged illicit substances.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said the raid conducted by a joint team consisting of officers from the Southern Division’s Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, K9 and Crime Intel led to the discovery of several large zip lock bags of dried leaves and more than 100 branches all believed to be marijuana.

Also seized were items believed to be stolen and smoking apparatus.

In another raid in Draubuta, Tailevu, officers in the Eastern Division arrested a 36-year-old man, following the discovery of dried branches and leaves believed to be marijuana.

A further search conducted led to the discovery of plants believed to be marijuana on his farm.

ACP Driu said a raid conducted at Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa resulted in the discovery of a ziplock plastic containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, and a bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Electronic gadgets were also seized, which were believed to have been stolen.

Four men were arrested during the raid.

Along Rodwell Road, a 28-year-old man was arrested for an alleged case of unlawful possession of illicit drugs following the discovery of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

ACP Driu said the Fiji Police Force is committed to its role in reducing the supply of illicit drugs by disrupting the illicit network through targeted raids and creating awareness on its harmful impacts through Community Policing.
