Lynda Tabuya will remain a member of parliament.

The People’s Alliance has concluded its enquiry regarding complaints received from party members pertaining to an explicit video of Tabuya circulated on social media on Christmas Eve last year.

On receipt of the complaints, the Party promptly acted according to its Constitution by referring the complaints to the Legal and National Disciplinary Sub-Committee.

General Secretary Sila Balawa said the LNDSC then conducted its enquiry according to the PA Constitution and forwarded its findings and recommendations to the People’s Management Committee (PMC) for deliberation before the Report was tabled at the People’s Executive Committee for a final decision.

Balawa added the Party appreciates the immense public interest in this case and the frustration some may feel in awaiting the outcome of the Party’s process which required compliance with the rules of natural justice.

However, it adds it is of vital importance that due process was followed in the processing of the complaints, to ensure fairness and justice. It is important to carefully consider all sides of the issue and take into account all available facts before a decision is arrived at.

After due process, the Party has determined that the video was not intentionally published or released by Tabuya and she did not intend to cause disrepute to the party.

The Party considered her achievements as a minister and her history of service to the Party and the public in making its decision
