Two secondary school students were allegedly found with illicit drugs.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu says the first case involves a 17-year-old student who was found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana in the school premises.
He says the matter is being investigated by Nausori Police.
ACP Driu says in another incident, white substances believed to be cocaine were found in another school premises in Lautoka allegedly belonging to a 17-year-old student.
He says the substances have been sent for analysis.
ACP Driu is urging parents and guardians to talk to their children about the consequences of drug use as well as other harmful substances.
He stresses the need for children to be constantly reminded of the implications drugs have on their health, education, and future.
ACP Driu adds while police and other stakeholders are doing their best to spread awareness of the harmful effects of drugs, parents and guardians must also reinforce a similar message at home.
Meanwhile, Police have also made drug-related arrests and seizures in the five policing divisions this past week.
