With 365 days to go, anticipation is building for Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027, as Australia prepares to welcome the world for the much-awaited tournament.

The event will run from 1 October to 13 November 2027, bringing 24 nations together across seven Host Cities.

Fan demand is already showing the level of interest surrounding the tournament, with more than 1.3 million tickets secured by supporters from 164 countries. More than half of all available tickets have been sold following strong demand throughout the various ticketing phases.

Remaining tickets from the Visa Priority Sale will go on sale from 12pm AEST on 1 October, with prices starting at AUD$40 for adults and AUD$20 for children.

Around 250,000 international fans are also expected to travel to Australia, adding to the atmosphere and activity across the Host Cities.

The tournament will feature an expanded format for the first time, with 24 teams competing across 52 matches and a new round of 16 added to the knockout stages.

Weekend-focused scheduling and fan-friendly kick-off times are also expected to give families and travelling supporters more opportunities to attend matches.

Sydney has marked the milestone with the opening of Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 HQ at First Fleet Park.

Fans can see the Webb Ellis Cup, explore Rugby World Cup memorabilia, take part in interactive rugby challenges and enjoy player appearances, giveaways and live entertainment.

The celebrations will continue on 2 October with a Nick Cummins Lookalike Contest, where Sydney’s best “Honey Badgers” will compete for tickets to the city’s opening match. The activities are giving local fans an early taste of the excitement ahead of the tournament.

With preparations continuing across Australia, the focus now turns to welcoming players, supporters and visitors from around the globe.

After more than two decades since Australia last hosted the Rugby World Cup, the country is preparing for six weeks of international rugby and a major celebration of the sport.
