The investigation into the missing cocaine drug exhibit at the Suva High Court is now focusing on the handling and management of exhibits kept at the High Court Registry.

Forensic testing conducted on the remaining drug exhibits has returned negative results, according to Police.

In a statement this afternoon, the Fiji Police Force say the exhibits had been tampered with.

The investigation is now concentrating on individuals directly charged with the management of exhibits at the High Court Registry as authorities work to establish how the tampering occurred and what led to the disappearance of the missing exhibit.

A person of interest allegedly linked to the incident is currently overseas and is expected to be questioned as part of the investigation.

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the movement, storage and management of the exhibits.

The drugs are from the Joshua Aziz Rahman case, who is currently serving 23 years behind bar.

The cocaine was seized during a police raid at a home that Rahman and his father were renting in Caubati, Nasinu, Fiji, on the 14 of February, 2019.

Investigations continue.
