The Army Boxing Association embarked on their journey to Honiara on Thursday, 15th June, with a contingent of 20 talented boxers to engage in training and community activities as they prepare for the Pacific Boxing Challenge.
The highlight of the tour will be the highly anticipated showdown between the Army Boxing Association and the Solomon Islands National Boxing Team. Scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of June, these matches will serve as an important opportunity to assess the skill and potential of the Solomon Islands National Team ahead of the Pacific Games, which are set to take place in November.
This engagement holds great significance as it marks the first time that successful boxers in the Pacific Games will secure automatic qualifications for the Olympic Games. The Olympian Dream is a rare opportunity for all regional boxing bodies, and the Army Boxing Team is fully focused on earning their spot in the upcoming National Selections in July.
Furthermore, the Army Boxing Association will participate in the prestigious Infantry Day Commemoration on 23rd June. This event allows them to pay tribute to the dedicated service of Men and Women of the Fiji Infantry Corp and further strengthens the bond between the military and the sport of boxing.
