Another live has been lost in our roads following an accident at Navola on Sunday morning.
A man was returning from Nadi after watching the Naitasiri and Nadi game on Saturday when the car he was driving veered off the road in Saumua near Navola village around 2am yesterday.
He died on the spot after his car bumped a coconut tree and a mango tree.
Meanwhile the Fiji Police Force says that speeding and pedestrians at fault are the leading causes of road fatalities to date.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations – Livai Driu says they are reinforcing the message that road safety is a shared responsibility as the national road death toll stands at 52 compared to 20 for the same period last year.
He says from the 52 road death toll this year, 22 cases were linked to speeding, 12 cases were pedestrians at fault, 7 cases due to dangerous driving, 4 cases as a result of drunk and drive, 2 cases of hit and run, 2 cases of improper overtaking and 2 cases of driver fatigue.
