The Fiji Football Association is gearing up for an important council meeting to discuss and approve their calendar for the year.
One of the agenda items will include discussions on the dates and venues for three major tournaments.
Fiji Football Association Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf says the HFC Bank Stadium is set to host the first major tournament of the year.
He says the opening round of the games in the Digicel Fiji Fact is scheduled to be held on the Ratu Sukuna Day holiday in May.
According to Yusuf, the second major tournament Rooster Chicken / Scoop Ice Cream Battle of the Giants is likely to be held in the Northern Division, depending on whether Labasa Town Council can meet the requirements set by the Fiji FA.
He says they are in talks with Labasa Town Council and will hopefully travel to Labasa next month to finalize the deal. If that happens, then the first round of BOG games will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Yusuf also mentioned that the International Date Clash seems to be a concern for the Courts Inter-District Championship.
The Fiji FA will need to decide whether to maintain the traditional October schedule or consider alternative dates to avoid conflicts with national team commitments. Fiji FA is likely to hold the IDC at Churchill Park in Lautoka from October 15th to 20th.
The council meeting is scheduled to take place on Sunday (4/02/24) in Lautoka.
