$4.5 billion of investment in water infrastructure is needed for climate adaptation.
The CEO of the Water Authority of Fiji, Amit Chanan, highlighted this while the authority was having the water sector 2050 strategy dialogue with the University of the South Pacific, the British High Commission and the Permanent Secretary for Climate Change.
Fiji will need to diversify its water supply to cater to the demand.
The CEO of the Water Authority of Fiji, Amit Chanan, said this can solve our country’s water problems, but only with the right type of infrastructure.
The British High Commissioner to Fiji, Dr Brian Jones, said the country’s water infrastructure shows its age and is not fit for purpose.
Dr Jones said there is a real issue with educating people about the complexities of providing clean, safe and healthy water to everyone as and when they need it.
