The Lautoka rugby team created history at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
The Maroons ended a 21-year-old drought to lay their hands on the Inkk Farebrother Trophy.
Lautoka came into the match with a positive mindset and proved much stronger against their opponents and holders of the Trophy Nadi, beating them 16 points to 10.
Lautoka will now defend the Farebrother Trophy against the next challenger Suva with the venue of the match yet to be confirmed by Fiji Rugby Union.
Meanwhile, the Suva women’s team also created history by becoming the first team to lift the ANZ Bosco Trophy Challenge at Lawaqa Park winning against Namosi by 31-15.
