The launch of Phase II of the Pacific Partnership to End Violence Against Women and Girls marks a significant step forward in addressing gender-based violence in the Pacific.

The programme builds on the achievements of Phase I (2018-2023) and promotes gender equality, prevent violence against women and girls and improves support services for survivors. 

The programme with over 200  partners involved is funded primarily by the Australian Government and the European Union, Phase II is jointly implemented by UN Women and the Pacific Community, in collaboration with the Pacific Islands Forum. 

High-level officials from various Pacific nations reaffirm their commitment to the cause, stressing the importance of strategic partnerships. 

The programmes multi-sectoral approach recognises the need for sustained efforts to address root causes of violence, with a focus on prevention and support services. 

Phase II targets specific Pacific countries for programming while extending its impact through regional initiatives.
