Leading manufacturer of hygiene and health products worldwide, Essity, is pleased to celebrate a noteworthy accomplishment: ten years of uninterrupted operations free from lost time from accidents.
With 117 workers spread over three locations around the nation, the company’s steadfast dedication to worker safety and well-being has allowed it to reach this milestone.
This noteworthy accomplishment demonstrates Essity’s ongoing commitment to upholding a secure and healthful workplace. Workplace injuries have been prevented thanks in large part to the company’s strict safety procedures and proactive efforts, which guarantee that every team member can carry out their responsibilities in a secure setting.
At their Nakasi head office, Essity threw a celebratory party to honor this remarkable achievement. Along with Mr. Jone Maritino Nemani, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Employment, Productivity, and Industrial Relations, Agni Deo Singh, Minister for Employment, Productivity, and Industrial Relations, was present at the ceremony.
Employees, executives, and management from Essity’s Australian main office, including Ms. Caitlin Patterson, Executive Director, Consumer Goods. The event served as a chance to recognize and honor the team’s combined efforts in maintaining the highest safety standards.
Essity used the occasion to thank its employees from the bottom of its heart for their dedication to safety procedures. Their commitment to these procedures has been essential to maintaining a secure work environment and averting any mishaps that can cause accidents and lost productivity.
This accomplishment demonstrates the company’s strong sense of corporate responsibility in addition to its operational competence. Essity keeps raising the bar for safety and health requirements in the sector by putting its workers’ welfare first.
The historic occasion commemorating ten years without a lost time injury (LTI) was presided over by Hon. Agni Deo Singh, Minister of Employment, Productivity, and Industrial Relations.
“Any organization should always prioritize ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees, and Essity Pacific has set a shining example for others to follow, establishing a benchmark for excellence in the industry,” Mr. Deo said, expressing gratitude to management and the leadership group for their contributions to fostering a safe work environment.
Eldon Eastgate, general manager of Essity Pacific Islands, gave his thoughts on the company’s ten-year accomplishment, saying that it is “committed to making safety a way of life, championed by leadership at every level.”
By means of instruction, ongoing enhancement, and a collaborative culture of accountability, we communicated close calls and gained insights from obstacles encountered. Our dedication to encouraging a healthy lifestyle and work-life balance went beyond the office. We created a chain of defense together, guaranteeing everyone made it back home safely.
Attending this celebration, Ms. Caitlin Patterson, Essity’s Australian Executive Director for Consumer Goods, shared their celebration for the Fiji team’s significant accomplishment.
According to Ms. Patterson, “Global organizations and Essity Australasia are proud of the team for delivering such an outstanding achievement, a world first in Essity’s history.”
The Fijian people endured a very difficult time during the COVID-19 pandemic, yet they managed to meet this milestone by maintaining safety norms and culture. It serves as motivation and demonstrates that a 0% lost time goal may be met with strong dedication and first-rate safety procedures.
The accomplishment of a 10-year loss of time without injury serves as evidence of the organization’s proactive safety culture, ongoing training programs, and safety standards.
“I’m incredibly proud of the team for achieving this remarkable milestone, a record in Essity,” wrote Sally Radcliffe, General Manager of Occupational Health & Safety at Essity Australasia, in a letter congratulating the team.
This success, despite near misses, emphasizes the significance of implementing our Life Saving Rules and I Care Behaviors, such as “Energy Isolation” and “See Something, Say Something, Do Something.”
By exercising caution as Safety Leaders, we can assist Fiji in maintaining the I Care Journey and achieving another ten years LTI-free.
Essity is still dedicated to putting safety first and will work hard to uphold and surpass these strict guidelines in the years to come. Essity’s accomplishment increases the bar for safety standards in the industry as well as within the organization.
Essity hopes to make workplace safety a top priority for other firms by sharing their safety innovations and best practices, which will make the workplaces in Fiji safer.
