Friday’s sixth annual Joint Heads of Pacific Security (JHoPS) conference was attended by Aporosa Lutunauga, the Assistant Commissioner of Police for Policy, Research, and Doctrine (ACP).
Acting Superintendent of Police (A/SP) Ulaiasi Tamanisau accompanied ACP Lutunauga.
Leaders from customs, immigration, law enforcement, and defense across the Pacific region convened for the meeting.
The Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ strategic counsel on peace and security, as well as the 2025 Strategic Framing of Collective Challenges and Priorities of Emerging Trends in the Security Sector, were the main topics of discussion.
A progress report on the inter-sessional working group’s efforts, the regional operations deployment structure, and the creation of the JHoPS 2025 Agenda was also given to the conference.
The gathering provided the heads of security in the Pacific with a chance to network and create workable, Pacific-led operational solutions to common problems pertaining to regional security.
Papua New Guinea will host the subsequent JHoPS meeting in March 2025.
