As Vanua Levu gets ready to host the nation’s Fiji Day celebrations tomorrow the 10th of October 2024, Commissioner Northern, Uraia Rainima, has assured the public that preparations are well on track to ensure a successful event.

Rainima, who has been overseeing the logistics for the celebrations, expressed confidence that everything is falling into place.

With the final touches being put in place for the national celebration, the people of Vanua Levu eagerly await the event that promises to be a vibrant display of patriotism and unity.

Rainima says they are working closely with local authorities and community groups to ensure this year’s Fiji Day celebrations will be a memorable and inclusive event.

“This Thursday we are expecting people from the three provinces of Bua, Cakaudrove and Macuata to celebrate Fiji Day in Labasa”, he said.

Rainima highlights that significant efforts have gone into organizing the venue, managing transportation, and coordinating security to accommodate the anticipated crowd.

“Buses and Mini-buses have already being hired to bring the people from the provinces to the national celebration”, he said.

Rainima encouraged the public to participate in the festivities and celebrate the nation’s unity.

“We would like to invite and encourage the people in the North to come and enjoy this special holiday and also to share moments with others visiting the Northern division during this time”, he said.

Vanua Levu last hosted the national Fiji Day celebrations in 2018, and the Commissioner expressed his hope that this year’s event will highlight the island’s capacity to host major national events, fostering regional development and pride.
