A suspect is in Police Custody for being in possession of illicit drugs.
The suspect was traveling in a vehicle that was stopped at Nadonumai Roundabout last night and during the process, he threatened the Police Officer.
With the assistance of the K-9 Unit, a clear plastic wrapper containing 5 dried branches and leaves suspected to be Marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.
Further search conducted at the suspect’s place has seen a discovery of a zip lock plastic bag containing loose dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said drug arrests continues everyday and Police will continue this momentum throughout the festive season.
“We are targeting anyone that is suspected of drugs. We will be checking on all drug spots, checking on suspected vehicles and vessels that will be moving during this festive session,” said ACP Driu.
The Police head of Operations said that they have stepped up their game in the war against drugs during this festive season through its operations and awareness.
“We will continue to do surprise stop checks to vehicles and anyone we encounter to be suspicious. We are continuing with this drug war and we are calling on members of the public to support us in this fight,” said ACP Driu.
The suspect is currently in custody at Lami Police Station for further investigations.
