The Fijian Cabinet has approved the development of new tourism legislation aimed at enhancing the efficiency of tourism-related licensing and ensuring regulatory consistency to support the sector’s sustainable growth.
The proposed legislation will take an integrated approach to tourism development, management, and promotion, with a focus on sustainability and quality.
It will also formalize national sustainable tourism standards and clearly define the roles and responsibilities of the Tourism Department and Tourism Fiji.
To oversee the drafting and implementation of the legislation, a Joint Working Group will be established, drawing on expertise from relevant stakeholders across the tourism sector.
The legislation is expected to play a pivotal role in streamlining processes and setting a clear direction for the future of Fiji’s tourism industry.
