The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has launched an investigation into a recent incident at Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH), where a delay in the response of a backup generator during a blackout raised concerns.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry acknowledged the incident, stating that it has highlighted areas for improvement and reaffirming its commitment to swiftly addressing the issue.
Officials assured the public that a thorough review is underway to determine the cause of the delay and to implement preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
The Ministry also recognized the efforts of a visiting New Zealand medical team, whose work at CWMH was overshadowed by the incident. Their contributions, it noted, remain highly valued.
Emphasizing transparency and accountability, the Ministry pledged to strengthen hospital systems to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
