Residents of Dreketi voiced strong concerns about infrastructure and essential service needs during the 2025–2026 National Budget Consultation held this week.
Key proposals included urgent road upgrades, expanded electricity and water access for remote communities, improved drainage systems, and construction of new bridges and crossings. Participants also called for better access to schools, installation of bus shelters, solar lighting projects, and support for agricultural processing facilities to boost local economies.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, praised the detailed submissions and highlighted the government’s focus on practical delivery.
“We don’t want to put things in the budget and not get them done,” he said. “We will carefully assess all proposed projects to ensure proper planning and execution.”
The Dreketi consultation is part of the government’s broader effort to include public input across the country ahead of the 2025–2026 National Budget announcement.
