Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka yesterday officiated the annual Bose Vakayabaki for the Suva Methodist Church Division, delivering remarks in the iTaukei language that focused on faith, leadership, and urgent national concerns.
Speaking to the congregation, Prime Minister Rabuka emphasised the church’s significant role in shaping a stronger and more united Fiji. He called on church leaders and members to deepen their service to God and model respect, discipline, and mutual care in everyday life.
Rabuka expressed concern about the rise in domestic violence and drug abuse across the country, describing these as pressing issues that require a united front. He encouraged the church to continue advocating for the protection of women, girls, and senior citizens, urging stronger outreach and community-based support.
Touching on youth development, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of collaboration between the church and other relevant institutions, highlighting the need for consistent support and long-term engagement with young people.
“As leaders-whether in government, the military, or within the vanua-it is our duty to lead by example,” he said. “Our lives should reflect the spirit and intentions of the Bose Vakayabaki.”
The event was anchored by the recurring theme: Me tubu mai ko Viti, me tudei ka dina tu- “May Fiji grow, may it be steadfast and true.”
