Australia’s humanitarian vessel ADV Reliant, en route to Fiji on Friday, diverted course to respond to a mayday call and successfully rescued a vessel in distress.
The rescue operation was conducted in collaboration with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Naval Division.
The ADV Reliant was delivering disaster relief supplies under Australia’s Disaster Resilience Program.
The shipment included emergency shelters, solar lights, hygiene kits, and debris-clearing equipment aimed at strengthening preparedness and resilience in remote Fijian communities ahead of potential extreme weather events.
The mission highlights continued cooperation between Fiji and Australia under the Vuvale Partnership, combining search and rescue capabilities with regional disaster support.
