Chief of Staff of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Brigadier-General Sapenafa Motufaga, has officially launched Exercise GENESIS 2–25 during the annual camp of 4FIR, 5FIR, and 7FIR at Malau, Labasa, on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The exercise, a whole-of-government and whole-of-society initiative, is designed to strengthen Fiji’s preparedness and resilience against modern security challenges.

It brings together the RFMF, government agencies, civil authorities, NGOs, and community partners to enhance coordination in responding to crises, including natural disasters, terrorism, and maritime threats.

In his opening address, Brig-Gen Motufaga emphasized that Exercise GENESIS is more than just a military drill.

He described it as an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen collaboration, and reassure Fijians of the RFMF’s readiness to assist, rebuild, and defend when needed.

“By training together, we strengthen our partnerships, improve coordination, and build resilience in our communities. This exercise is about protecting our people, safeguarding our nation, and ensuring a secure and prosperous Fiji,” Brig-Gen Motufaga said.

The exercise will be conducted across the Northern Division, showcasing the importance of unity, teamwork, and shared responsibility in addressing national security threats.
