Director of Training and Rehabilitation for the Fiji Corrections Service, Superintendent Isireli Dausiga, addressed participants on the second day of the Lomaiviti Leaders and Development Forum at the Civic Centre in Suva yesterday.
During his presentation, Superintendent Dausiga outlined current inmate statistics relating to individuals from the Province of Lomaiviti serving sentences in correctional facilities across the country.
He also stressed the vital role communities play in supporting rehabilitation and successful reintegration, urging leaders, families and village representatives to strengthen support networks for former inmates returning to their homes and villages.
The session also included discussions with village leaders, focusing on ways communities can better assist discharged men and women in rebuilding their lives after release.
