More than two decades after watching Navua celebrate its historic Fiji FACT triumph, veteran defender Peniame Drova is preparing to represent his hometown club on one of local football’s biggest stages.
When Navua secured its maiden Fiji FACT title in 2003, a young Drova was among the supporters celebrating the achievement. At just 13 years old, the victory left a lasting impression and fuelled his dream of one day wearing the district’s colours.
That dream eventually led him through Fiji’s age-grade national teams, where he represented the country at Under-17 and Under-20 level before earning a move to Rewa FC in 2010.
The transfer marked the beginning of an outstanding career with the Delta Tigers. Over the next 15 years, Drova established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in local football, helping Rewa secure multiple Fiji FACT crowns, league titles and other major honours while also representing Fiji at the national level.
Despite his success away from home, his connection to Navua never faded.
In July last year, Drova made the decision to return to the club where his football ambitions first took shape. For the experienced defender, the move was more than just a transfer—it was an opportunity to reconnect with his roots and contribute to the district that inspired his journey.
As Navua gears up for the BiC Fiji FACT 2026 tournament, Drova is set to achieve a long-awaited milestone. While he has lifted the prestigious trophy before with Rewa, this will be his first Fiji FACT campaign wearing the colours of his hometown club.
Now regarded as one of Fiji’s most respected defenders, Drova brings leadership, experience and composure to a Navua side aiming to make its mark in the competition.
His return is not only a boost for the team but also a proud moment for Navua supporters, who welcome back one of their own ahead of another exciting Fiji FACT campaign.
