Construction is advancing on the 9.1-kilometre Navilawa–Yaloku Access Road in the interior of Ba, a project aimed at improving connectivity between communities in Nadi and Ba.

Funded through the Coalition Government’s Rural Outer Island Development Programme and implemented by the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, the project is backed by an investment of approximately $200,000.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Mosese Bulitavu recently visited the site to assess progress on the road, which is expected to deliver significant benefits to residents, farmers and businesses in the area.

Once completed, the new route will provide easier access to markets, lower transportation costs and improve travel safety and efficiency.

The road is also expected to reduce travel time between Sabeto, Nadi and Ba from about two hours to just 40 minutes.

Minister Bulitavu said the development demonstrates the Government’s commitment to supporting rural communities and ensuring they benefit from national development initiatives.

He said projects such as the Navilawa–Yaloku Access Road help create economic opportunities, strengthen connectivity and improve access to essential services and markets for people living in rural areas.
