Former Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama has formally endorsed the newly registered political party One Nation, with the party describing the move as a significant milestone ahead of Fiji’s next General Election.

In a statement issued by One Nation, a party delegation led by President Roko Tupou Draunidalo and General Secretary Ravindran Kumaran met with Bainimarama, to present the party’s constitution and seek his patronage and support.

The party said Bainimarama acknowledged that the values and principles outlined in One Nation’s constitution aligned with those he upheld while serving as Prime Minister.

Bainimarama said he was impressed by the party’s commitment to transparent governance, responsible leadership, national development and addressing socio-economic inequality.

One Nation said Bainimarama also endorsed the party’s focus on national unity, equal citizenship, equal opportunities, good governance, accountability and putting Fiji and Fijians first.

Draunidalo said the endorsement reinforces One Nation’s commitment to building a united, inclusive and prosperous Fiji founded on integrity, equality, meritocracy and good governance.

One Nation described the endorsement as an important step in its development as it prepares to engage with voters across the country ahead of the next General Election.

It adds the party remains committed to serving all Fijians regardless of ethnicity, religion, province, gender or socio-economic background.
