Year 5 and Year 7 students in Taveuni who are unable to sit the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LANA) due to verified transport disruptions will be given the opportunity to complete the assessment at a later approved date.

The Ministry of Education said the arrangements will be made in line with its Assessment Policy to ensure students are not unfairly disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control.

The announcement comes as the Government continues efforts to reduce the impact of transport disruptions affecting parts of Taveuni.

The Ministry is working alongside the Office of the Commissioner Northern, the Land Transport Authority, the Fiji Police Force, school leaders and other stakeholders to keep disruptions to a minimum.

Contingency measures include transport assistance, close monitoring of student attendance and transport services, and ongoing coordination with schools and partner agencies.

Permanent Secretary for Education Navin Raj said the Ministry’s main priority is to ensure every student can continue accessing education safely while minimising any disruption to their learning.
