In Fiji:
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has filed a nolle prosequi in the case against suspended Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde.
FICAC informed the Suva Magistrates Court that Pryde had evaded service.
The matter was called before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad this morning, where FICAC submitted that attempts to serve Pryde in New Zealand had been unsuccessful and that the failure to do so was beyond the State’s control.
Pryde was facing two counts of abuse of office, two counts of causing a loss, and one count of obtaining a financial advantage.
A nolle prosequi is a formal notice by the prosecution indicating that it will no longer proceed with the charges.
