The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation after a video showing an interaction between a student and a member of the Steadfast Baptist Church Group during a visit to Natabua High School was shared on social media.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro said student safety remains a priority and stressed that all organisations must receive approval before conducting activities in schools.

The group, which included members from Houston, Texas, and a United States national based in the Philippines, visited the school on 16 July 2026.

The Minister later met with representatives from the United States Embassy, who confirmed they had no prior knowledge or involvement in the visit.

Following the discussion, the Minister directed the Permanent Secretary for Education, Navin Raj, to take action regarding the education officer who facilitated the visit without the required approval.

The Ministry said the investigation will examine whether procedures were breached and determine any necessary action.

It also reminded organisations that written approval and, where required, parental consent must be obtained before engaging with students or using their images.
