Fiji’s national weightlifting team has returned home after a successful campaign at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where Taniela Rainibogi claimed the country’s only gold medal.

Rainibogi delivered a standout performance in the Men’s 110kg division, securing the top podium finish and highlighting Fiji’s presence on the international stage.

The team was officially welcomed home yesterday by Ministry of Youth and Sports Deputy Secretary Philip Hereniko, who commended the athletes, coaches, officials and support staff for proudly representing the country throughout the Games.

The team’s performances have further strengthened Fiji’s standing in international weightlifting, reflecting the commitment and hard work of its athletes.

The Ministry says the achievement also demonstrates that small island nations can compete successfully against the world’s best through talent, determination and unity.
