The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has clarified that the $56.25 fee being charged for medical reports at Tavua Hospital is not unique to the facility.

Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Penioni Ravunawa, says the standard baseline fee for a medical report across public health facilities is $50, excluding VAT.

With the applicable VAT included, the current charge is $56.25.

Ravunawa says this means the same fee applies across public hospitals, and the final amount may change if there are changes to the VAT rate.

The clarification follows information circulating on social media regarding the fee charged for medical reports at Tavua Hospital.

The Ministry is urging members of the public and media organisations to verify information with the Ministry before publishing claims that could cause confusion.

Ravunawa says the Ministry remains committed to transparency, consistency and equitable access to health services.

He also encouraged members of the public to raise genuine concerns through the appropriate channels.
