The United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, has concluded her official visit to Fiji, with discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

During her visit, Dr Al Kaabi paid a courtesy call on President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu at State House, where education, cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections were among the areas discussed.

Climate change was also part of the discussions, with Fiji continuing to push for stronger international cooperation to build resilience and support sustainable development.

The UAE Minister also met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Industries, Commerce and Business Development and Public Enterprises, Manoa Kamikamica.

Their discussions covered trade, investment, digital transformation and economic development, with both sides looking at opportunities to deepen economic ties between Fiji and the UAE.

Education was another key area during the visit, with Dr Al Kaabi meeting Education Minister Aseri Radrodro.

Discussions included scholarships, teacher professional development, student and teacher exchanges, artificial intelligence and technology in education, as well as inclusive and special education.

The delegation also visited the Fiji Museum before meeting Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Viliame Gavoka, while health cooperation was discussed with Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Antonio Lalabalavu.

Areas identified included training and capacity building in the health and medical sectors.

The visit comes as Fiji and the UAE work to further strengthen their diplomatic relationship, with the UAE expected to open its Embassy in Fiji in March 2027.
