Fiji’s Junior Bula Boys have been knocked out of the OFC Under-19 Men’s Championship after suffering a 2-1 loss to Tahiti in their final group match in Samoa.
The result brought an end to Fiji’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals and securing qualification for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Coach Marika Rodu’s side entered the match knowing a draw would have been enough to keep their campaign alive.
However, Fiji went into halftime trailing 1-0 and could not complete the comeback.
Abdullah Khairati found the net for Fiji, but Tahiti managed to protect its lead and claim the win, earning a place in the semi-finals.
The defeat concludes Fiji’s campaign at the regional championship, with the Junior Bula Boys missing out on the opportunity to progress further in the competition.
