After their 17-all tie game yesterday, Lautoka and Suva are turning their attention to areas that need improvement ahead of their next Skipper Cup fixtures.

Lautoka Rugby Union head coach Peniona Ranitu says his side must improve its set-pieces, particularly the line-outs, while also working on ball retention after losing possession at crucial moments before they face Tailevu.

““Coming into this game, we were at the bottom of the table, so we had to do a lot of soul-searching. With the weather conditions, we told the boys to stay strong, and we’re glad we came out stronger today. We’ll now work on our forward set-pieces, especially our line-outs, and improve our ball retention because losing possession can cost us games in the future.”

Suva Rugby Union vice-captain Koli Tamanitoakula says the wet conditions exposed weaknesses in their attack and defence, which the team will work on before facing Malolo next week.

“There were a lot of weaknesses during the game and two of those were our defense and attack especially during this type of rainy weather conditions. We will have to make sure to execute it properly. We will go back on Monday and start working on these areas before our game against Malolo next week.”
