Rugby fans are set to get an early opportunity to secure tickets for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia following a new partnership between World Rugby and Visa.

Visa has been named a Principal Partner of the men’s 2027 Rugby World Cup and the women’s 2029 Rugby World Cup, returning to World Rugby’s commercial programme as Australia prepares to host both tournaments.

Eligible Visa cardholders will have a 48-hour priority window to purchase tickets for the 2027 men’s tournament.

For fans following the sale from Fiji, the priority window will open at 2:00pm Fiji time on September 28 and close at 2:00pm on September 30.

Tickets for all 52 matches will be available during the priority period, subject to availability. Supporters will also be able to use interactive stadium maps to select their preferred seats.

Any tickets remaining after the priority window will be released to the general public from October 1, exactly one year before the opening match of the tournament.

The 2027 Rugby World Cup will take place from October 1 to November 13, with Australia preparing to host an expanded competition featuring 24 teams instead of the previous 20-team format.

Beyond ticketing, Visa will serve as the Official Payment Technology Partner for both the 2027 men’s and 2029 women’s Rugby World Cups. Its payment technology will also be used at official tournament venues.

The company will additionally become the presenting partner of the Player of the Match award across both competitions.

The agreement comes as preparations intensify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will be the largest edition of the men’s tournament, while Australia will make history by hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup for the first time in 2029.
