The Fiji Kulas have suffered a disappointing start to the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2026 after going down 4–0 to Papua New Guinea at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.

PNG took control early, with Keren Kalapai scoring a first-half hat-trick in the 3rd, 7th and 38th minutes to put the visitors firmly in command.

The early goals left Fiji chasing the game, with the Kulas unable to find a response before the break.

Calista Maneo added PNG’s fourth just a minute after halftime to complete a dominant performance from the visitors.

Despite the result, the Kulas will have an opportunity to regroup and address the weaknesses exposed in their opening match.

The defeat leaves Fiji with work to do in their remaining fixtures as they look to bounce back and put themselves in contention for a stronger finish in the women’s competition.

With the tournament still in its early stages, the Kulas will now shift their focus to their next match against Vanuatu on Sunday, as they look to respond positively to the setback.
