Two lawyers and an accounts officer are expected to appear at the Suva Magistrates Court today, charged in connection with the alleged falsification of Tax Compliance Certificates.

The accused include a 39-year-old female accounts officer from Lautoka, a 39-year-old lawyer from Nadi and a 32-year-old lawyer from Ba.

It is alleged that in February this year, the accounts officer dishonestly altered the Tax Compliance Certificates of the two male lawyers, who were employed by the law firm, to enable them to obtain their 2026 Practising Certificates.

The two lawyers allegedly knew the certificates were false but intentionally submitted them to the Legal Practitioners Unit in Suva to obtain their practising certificates.

The charges were sanctioned by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
