Junior staff officers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces have been reminded to maintain professionalism, accuracy and integrity as they prepare for greater responsibilities.

The reminder came from Director Human Resources Management, Colonel Jofiliti Gadevulatolu Talemaibau, during the opening of the 01/26 Junior Staff Officers Course at the Officers Training School in Vatuwaqa on Monday.

Speaking under the theme “The Pen is Mightier than the Sword,” Col Talemaibau said effective leadership also depends on strong communication, sound administration and careful decision-making.

He stressed that staff documents and reports can influence command decisions, military operations and the welfare and careers of personnel.

Col Talemaibau also urged the officers to handle personnel matters with confidentiality, fairness and respect for established procedures while ensuring all information is accurate and properly authorised.

The 10-week course is expected to strengthen the officers’ ability to analyse information, anticipate challenges and provide timely advice as they develop into capable leaders and professional staff officers.
