The cost of living and limited job opportunities remain major concerns for families and young people.

At its annual convention at the Jai Narayan Hall, the National Federation Party focused on issues affecting families, workers and the future of young people.

The convention highlighted the challenges young people face in moving from education into employment, while families continue to deal with rising living costs and pressure on essential services.

NFP President Parmod Chand highlighted that some young people are forced to look overseas because they cannot find a clear pathway into employment at home.

“Others look overseas. Not because they have rejected Fiji, but because they cannot see a clear path from education to employment at home” Chand highlighted.

For NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad, addressing these challenges also requires honest leadership and recognising where more needs to be done for families.

“But they do expect truth, competence, and agency” Prof. Prasad said,

Former NFP politician Ahmed Bhamji emphasized that young people need better opportunities to build careers, businesses and families in Fiji.

“Our young people deserve a Fiji where they can receive a good education, finding more opportunities, build careers and businesses, raise their families and see a future for themselves here at home” Bhamji said.

The National Federation Party emphasizes that its focus must remain on practical issues affecting families and young people, including employment, education, essential services and creating opportunities for the future.
