Australian rugby fans will have more opportunities to see the world’s leading players up close after 29 Outdoor Training Venues were confirmed across the seven Host Cities for Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027.

The venues, which include rugby clubs, schools, universities, high-performance centres and stadiums, will serve as training bases for the 24 teams competing in the tournament from 1 October to 13 November 2027.

For communities around Australia, the announcement means the tournament will extend beyond the main match venues.

Fans will have opportunities to connect with visiting teams, including the possibility of watching open training sessions during the pool stage.

Each team will have a dedicated Team Base in the city where it is playing during each match week. Teams will have exclusive access to their allocated outdoor training venue as they prepare for pool and knockout matches.

They will also be able to use high-performance facilities such as gyms, swimming pools and indoor training centres as they travel between Host Cities.

The selected venues are spread across Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and Townsville.

They include Unley Oval in Adelaide, Padua College in Brisbane, Bridges Recreation Reserve in Melbourne, the University of Newcastle, Perth Rectangular Stadium, Parramatta Eels Community Centre of Excellence and the Cowboys Centre of Excellence in Townsville.

The announcement follows visits by all 24 participating teams to their respective match venues and Team Bases across Australia.

The wider community focus was highlighted at the UWA Rugby Centre, where South African players and coaches, alongside former Australian international and Western Force player Nick Cummins, held a junior rugby clinic.

Young players were given coaching tips while getting an early taste of the excitement surrounding the 2027 tournament.

Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 Managing Director Chris Stanley said the facilities would provide teams with the high-performance environments needed to prepare for the tournament while helping bring the event closer to Australian communities.

With the training venues now confirmed, preparations for the 2027 Rugby World Cup have moved another step forward, giving fans across the country more chances to experience the tournament beyond the stadiums.
