In Fiji:
Government is set to move a motion in Parliament today, to suspend key Standing Orders to allow Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to proceed with the First Reading of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026.
According to Parliament’s order of business, the Leader of the Government in Parliament will move, pursuant to Standing Order 6(1), for Standing Orders 6(5) and 92 to be suspended.
The proposed suspension would allow the Prime Minister to proceed with the First Reading of the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026.
The motion also seeks to keep the two Standing Orders suspended until the conclusion of the Bill’s Third Reading and vote.
