Consumers will pay more for fuel and LPG from tomorrow, with new regulated prices coming into effect across Fiji.

The biggest increase is on diesel, which will rise by 20 to 22 cents a litre, depending on location. 

Petrol prices will increase by five to six cents a litre, while kerosene will go up by 10 to 11 cents a litre.

On Viti Levu, motorists within three kilometres of a public road will pay $3.15 a litre for petrol, up from $3.10, while diesel will increase from $3.20 to $3.41 a litre.

For areas beyond three kilometres from a public road, petrol will rise from $3.14 to $3.19 a litre, while diesel will increase from $3.25 to $3.45 a litre.

On Vanua Levu and Ovalau, petrol will increase to between $3.18 and $3.21 a litre, while diesel will range from $3.44 to $3.47 a litre, depending on location.

Rotuma will record the highest regulated fuel prices, with petrol increasing to $3.72 a litre and diesel to $3.98 a litre.

LPG prices are also increasing from tomorrow.

A 4.5-kilogram cylinder will rise by between 82 cents and $1.07, while a 12-kilogram cylinder will increase by between $2.20 and $2.86, depending on location.

On Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, the maximum price for a 4.5-kilogram cylinder will be $15.81, while a 12-kilogram cylinder will cost up to $42.16.

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission has highlighted that the increases reflect higher international refined fuel prices, LPG contract prices, freight costs and exchange-rate movements linked to imports in August.

It Commission added that ongoing geopolitical tensions, supply disruptions and volatility in global petroleum markets have continued to push up international fuel and LPG costs.

The revised prices are legally enforceable from Thursday, with retailers and LPG suppliers required to sell regulated products at or below the prescribed maximum prices.

FCCC reassured that its enforcement teams will carry out inspections across the country and is urging consumers to report suspected overcharging or other non-compliance.
