Civil servants and security forces have joined hands in a clean-up along the Lami shoreline as part of Fiji Day celebrations.
The initiative brought together the Fiji Police Force, Fiji Corrections Service, Republic of Fiji Military Forces and representatives from various ministries to promote community responsibility and environmental protection.
Fiji Police Force Director of Community Policing, SSP Rakesh Chan, highlighted that the campaign covered the coastal side of Suvavou Village and along the Queens Highway, with a focus on engaging communities and protecting the environment for future generations.
The clean-up also comes as Fiji hosts PRE-COP31 in Nadi, with environmental protection and stronger climate action among the wider discussions.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Women representative Dorin Devi is urging motorists and members of the public to keep their rubbish with them and dispose of it properly instead of leaving waste along roadsides or in the environment.
The initiative reinforces the message that keeping Fiji clean requires collective action, starting with individual responsibility.
