Rugby sevens fans can look forward to three international tournaments across Africa and South America in early 2027, with World Rugby confirming the schedule for the HSBC SVNS 2 series as teams continue their journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The competition will begin in Nairobi, Kenya, on 23–24 January at Talanta Sports Stadium before moving to Montevideo, Uruguay, for matches at Estadio Charrua on 20–21 February. São Paulo, Brazil, will host the final event on 27–28 February at Nicolau Alayon Stadium.
All three cities return after hosting the inaugural HSBC SVNS 2 competition in 2026, bringing another opportunity for local supporters to experience international rugby sevens.
The series plays a key role in the sport’s international competition system, giving men’s and women’s teams a chance to advance through the tiers, from regional qualification to HSBC SVNS 3 and SVNS 2, with the ultimate goal of reaching the HSBC SVNS World Championship.
World Rugby Sevens World Series General Manager Sam Pinder said the return of the three host cities would build on the previous season’s success, highlighting the importance of providing teams with a competitive route to the highest level while expanding the sport’s global reach.
With the qualification race for LA28 gaining momentum, the 2027 tournaments will offer another significant opportunity for teams seeking to strengthen their position in the international sevens landscape.
Further details about the HSBC SVNS 2 competition and ticket sales are expected to be announced later. World Rugby is also expected to provide an update on the HSBC SVNS 3 schedule.
